Craving a bit of summer so I pulled out a favorite, the Melon Stand.
(Midwestern) Melon Stand
4 (1-inch) chunks of peeled watermelon
2oz Gin. ( @_big_gin )
1/2oz Aperol ( @aperolusa )
3/4oz lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Pickled Watermelon rind to garnish
Muddle melon in tin, add remaining ingredients and ice; shake. Strain into a Collins glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a Pickled watermelon rind cause you're fancy like that.
The salt makes this a "Midwestern" melon stand, added mainly because having grown up in the Midwest I can't imagine having watermelon without a bit of salt on it. Come at me 🍉 purists!
