Muddled Cocktails: Persimmon Sour

For those Midwesterners and Southerners among us you should be well aware of this awesome American fruit. For the rest, these bitter/sweet soft mushy fruit are a staple around the fall table.

Persimmon Sour:
2oz mashed persimmon pulp
2oz Bourbon ( @bulleit )
1/2oz Lemon Juice
1/4oz Orange Juice
1/4oz Simple
Ice
Chunky ice cube
Grated nutmeg to garnish

Use your awesome hardwood muddler to #muddlefiercely a couple persimmons into a paste in the bottom of your tin. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake aggressively. Double strain into a chilled high ball glass with a chunky cube in it. Garnish with a bit of nutmeg.

Tastes just like fall and beats the pants off a pumpkin spiced anything.

If you can't get your hands on American Persimmons, you can use the Japanese ones (they are fist sized and can be found in some grocery stores). They have a similar flavor but need to be extra ripe.
